Like all such events, it's tempting to blame someone and the list owner is an obvious candidate, but realistically, a forum needs people willing to pull together to make it work.
A more controversial conclusion, is that Britarch helped British archaeology to progress to such a level, that there is nothing left to discuss. It's all done and dusted and there is nothing left to debate.
The groups.io email forum seems to have got going, although it's a little like being in pensioner's coach party to their childhood haunt. However, I'm sure when I'm that old I'll be much worse. Fortunately they haven't mentioned prestel, teletext or computers with valves. Here, the private lounge has given an opportunity to say a few things that could not be said in public. No we aren't talking about you! Unless you happen to be a Scottish politician.
